Dear Miss Powell,

I would like to go on a field trip.  I would show the class how to act when they are on the field trip.  I would follow directions when we are on the school bus.  I would not get out of control.  I would stay in my seat.  I would not talk a lot.

Thank you for reading us “Stop, Drop, and Roll”.  I really liked the story because it was funny.  When the girl kept saying the wrong words I laughed really hard.  When it came to the part when she saw her brother’s cake and all the candles it was really funny!

My bedroom color is white with wall art on the walls.  I share a room with my sister Tamaira.  We have a nice wooden dresser. We have a bunk.  I sleep on the bottom and Tamaira sleeps on top. 

Sometimes we play the keyboard that’s in our room when we get bored.

The Egg-cellent Fashion Show

I started my project on Sunday and finished it on Monday. It was fun. First I played with my dog. Then I got right on the project. I did it in my living room. I also did it in my den.

My mother helped me and my brother did too. My sister helped me glue my egg. I made my egg so it will be fashionable. I think I might win the contest.

This project is the best thing my teacher ever thought of!

The Egg Roll

I played with eggs today.  We had an egg roll.  I came in second place in the contest.  Cali was first place. I had fun rolling eggs.  I thought I got the furthest but Cali got even further. 

We were having so much fun that we got a little too loud.  Some teachers came by and asked us why we were so loud.  We told them about the Egg Roll contest.

When Mrs. Nevada came to our classroom she read a book to us.  The book was called "Stephanie's Ponytail". 

I enjoyed meeting Mrs. Nevada.  I also liked her crown.  I enjoyed the book she read because she made it funny by changing her hair.

Mrs. Nevada's crown was beautiful.  I liked the shininess of her crown.  It sparkled in my eyes when I looked up at it.  It was cute with the diamonds.  Mrs. Nevada said it was heavy.  It had silver on it.

My favorite book that John read was "The Adventures of Taxi Dog".  I like the part when the dog is sitting in the taxi with his head hanging out the window.  I liked the book because it had good ideas.  I was sad up to the part where the dog was lost. 

I learned that John is a good reader. He can use different voices when he reads. That makes it more interesting to listen to. I also learned that he sold a car to Miss Powell. He is 31 years old and he used to live in New York. Now John lives in Las Vegas with his dog named Baby.

I want to know how John gets the cars like the one he sold to Miss Powell.

Apples grow in large trees.  Usually there are many rows of them altogether.  There is one green apple that I call the "secret apple".  It is high up in the tree almost hidden.  Apples are grouped together in pairs on every branch. 

The secret apple is bright green and much larger than all the others in the tree.  The only problem is that the apple is too far away for me to reach.  I really must pick that apple because it's ripe and looks delicious.  I can climb the tree branch by branch until I get close enough to use a stick to break that branch and knock the apple to the ground. 

Mmmmm! This apple smells so sweet and feels very smooth.  Wow!  The skin is tender and the inside is crisp.  This secret apple is the best I've ever tasted!

I am a snowflake falling down from the sky.  I like being a snowflake.  It's fun being a snowflake, but I hate when these kids come out and play.  I hate them always tasting me when I fall down from the sky!

I'm falling quickly to the ground.  I think it's a playground.  There are kids running and playing.  Oh, what can I do?  Please wind, blow me another direction!  Quickly!  I'm coming closer and closer.

I see them already getting ready for me as they jump and scream.  I'm landing now.  Thank you!  I've landed on a basketball court up high where I'm safe from all the people.

I'm Miss Powell's car.  She bought me on sale.  I'm happy to be Miss Powell's car because she knows how to drive me and she knows my feelings. 

I really want to go home right now.  I have to stay here all day until it is 3:00 and that's too long.  I want to go home right now!  I feel like an old car waiting here until school is over at 3:00.

My name is Taryn and I turned eight years old over the winter break.  I also moved to Las Vegas from Carson, California.  In my new house I have a room that I share with one of my sisters.  It is upstairs.  We sleep in bunk beds.  Tamaira has the top and I'm on the bottom. 

I like my space because I have all the things I really love all around me, like my teddy bear, stuffed animals, and my new keyboard that I got for my birthday. 

So I guess the best thing happened to me this winter break.  On Christmas I got a trampoline, an electric scooter, clothes, and toys that I enjoy with my sister and brother.
